Alpacas in Alabama
Serenity Farm Alpacas of Millbrook, Alabama was founded
in the fall of 2007 by Mike and Rochelle Machowicz. Rochelle
has always been an animal lover and her dream was to own a small
farm someday. The corporate life was not for Rochelle and she left
her accounting position 15 years ago to raise our four children.
When the opportunity came up, we bought our current property and
started to build our farm. We bought our first alpacas (2 pregnant
females) shortly after researching them and visiting some farms.
Since we already owned horses, and had the available space, the
decision to raise alpacas was fairly easy for us. Though a little
scary at first, we absolutely love what we do. We had our first
two crias in the spring of 2008 and now own a total of nine alpacas.
These are very gentle animals that do not require a lot of special
care. They are very easy keepers. And the added tax benefits are
just icing on the cake! Did we mention they are fully insurable?
Our philosophy is to remain a small alpaca farm, where we can focus
on improving our alpacas through selective breeding. Our animals
receive excellent care and are the picture of health and happiness.
We are in tune to each one's individual personality and they are
observed and handled daily. We will continue to focus on the breeding
of happy, strong, healthy animals and helping our customers achieve
similar dreams. We have learned a lot since starting on this great
adventure and we would love to share that experience with you.
